Having been in the bodyshop business for over 20 years, it's typical to have to fix problems like that.

I encountered the same problem. Once I figured out what was wrong, I too took the trim off, cleaned it, retaped it and thought I was done.

It was only until I experienced the problem again that I took a better look at it. Here's what I found.

When you place a strip of two-sided tape on the leading edge, the actual edge curves around a bit. The point is... one layer of tape isn't thick enough. By doubling the thickness (laying two strips on top of each other) it allows the leading edge to stay off the glass enough to allow the tape to bind to the glass.

Glass isn't the bestest material to be sticking two-sided tape to but that's where it goes so...

Just to test my theory, I redid both sides... the driver's side I did with doubling the amount of two-sided tape and the passenger side the single layer like the factory does it.

Well, it's been just over a month and the passenger side needs to be redone and the driver's side is on tight.

Hope that helps,

Mark
