16 inch wheels

I have talked to several people and I have been told by these people that work for Hummer and GM and they said that 16" wheels will not fit, you will tear up the calipers and then your rims will warp and brakes will not function properly, if you get them to fit, they said they know people have shaved down the caliper to make them fit, but then you damage the braking system...
Why would you want to put 16" rims on anyway if you are installing a lift kit, most off road tires or I should say the most popular ones are in 16.5" sizes... They look better too, so why risk it???? But it is your H2 you tear it up if you like, just send pics of all the damage....
