2003 HUMMER H2

Condition
Some customers may comment that the rear window washer spray nozzle drips when not in use and/or they have to wait an extended period of time while holding the rear washer button before it sprays.

Cause
Some vehicles may have been built without a rear window washer check valve.

Correction
Follow the service procedure below to correct this condition.

Open the rear lift gate.
Remove the two bolts that retain the cargo tie downs and remove the tie downs.
Remove the bolt that retains the pull strap to the lift gate and remove the pull strap.
Remove the two push-in retainers.
Gently pull on the lift gate trim panel in order to disengage the retaining clips.
Remove the lift gate trim panel from the vehicle.
Locate the rear window washer hose where it passes through the lift gate sheet metal near the rear wiper arm.
Measure the hose from the pass through connector 76 mm (3 in) back and cut the hose.
Install washer check valve, P/N 22102237, with the arrow pointing in the direction of the fluid flow and towards the pass through connector on the lift gate sheet metal near the wiper arm.
Tape the washer check valve to the lift gate wiring harness with black electrical tape or equivalent.
Install the lift gate trim panel to the vehicle.
Gently press the trim panel in order to fully seat the retaining clips into the lift gate.
Install the two plastic push in retainers.
Install the lift gate pull down handle and bolt. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 1.5 Nˇm (13 lb in).

Install the two cargo tie downs and bolts. Tighten
Tighten the two bolts to 9 Nˇm (80 lb in).

Close the lift gate.
Verify the operation of the rear window washer.
