WhiteH3 is off the scale
Default

I love my H3 with the 5 speed. It shifts pretty good and I like the control over the I-5 engine. It seems a little quicker than the auto but I don't have numbers to verify.
The manual is supposed to get 20 mpg versus the autos 19 mpg, highway. Keep in mind that typically autos resell faster than manuals due to their larger market.
I also enjoy offroading with a manual vehicle. I have recently offroaded with both manual and auto '05 Jeep Wranglers & Unlimiteds, and I prefer the control of the 5 speed in really tricky situations.
My H3 sounds pretty good too because, it has an aftermarket exhaust and intake system so the manual effects the way the vehicle sounds depending on how I rev the engine. Something especially noticeable with the new exhaust system & 5 speed combination, is the unique sound of the inline 5. It sounds really smooth due to the inline cylinders. At idle or low rpm it has a low, mellow note. At about 3250+ rpms it quickly turns into a roar. There is also a strong powerful sound of rushing air that comes through the aftermarket intake. Stock H3's are amazingly quiet, which is a good move by Hummer for the majority of the market.
Oh yeah, I like the way the "he-man" manual shifter looks and feels. I think it could really suit a V8 nicely.
I know 3 new H3 owners who just bought automatics and they love them.
Manual vs Auto ... Needs vs wants?
Towing capability? You got me there.
