I looked in the service manual but I could not find any part number for the amp. Where else should I look?

PB, would you please change your avitar. This one is spoken for and I don't like to share. My goofy clown has a reputation that needs to be upheld.
Thanks.

the part number is under the amp. I think it should be #15199992
I guess I will change the clown. I will put makeup on it for the next guy.

I install a nav HU in my North Face Avalanche in Dec, Started on Nov. 24 when I got the HU from the dealer and GPS. Installed and everything worked but the audio. after a few week of research I found out that I needed a diffrent amp. The Avalanches come with a cheep Bose amp so I got the amp and rewired the conector for it only to find out it needed to be programed. Dec 24th got it Programed and whala sound. One thing the you need todo in the hummer is conect the VSS to the HU so it will work faster on the Nav. If you have ? about how, ask You will Like it more.

Pbuilder
Does VSS stand for vehicle speed sensor?
How do you connect the VSS to the GPS nav HU? I plan on trying this conversion myself.
Thanks

Pbuilder,
From the schematics I've looked at, it is the same signal sent to the speedometer. I thought I'd just tap into it the next time I take my dash apart to install XM.
Do you do something different?

Yes I went to the speedo also .
if you don't after awhile it will set a code.
Also it will make it smooth like a babies ass.
no more jitters.

Pbuilder,
Do you have XM in your truck? That's the next add-on for me. I've looked at the schematics, and it appears that it could be added reasonably easy as far as connecting it goes. Getting the tuner module and the molex connector to plug the wiring into the module appears to be the biggest problems.

What kills me is that Gm and everyone else says we can't do this upgrade. the hummers and cads have it easy for they have the amp and mic already install. We avalanchers have to rewire the amp and add the mic and then get it programed. what a pain. if the truck or car has the upgraded amp in it already the it is easy. here is post on the Avalanche site.

I am planning on do a how to do for us since i was the first to do the upgrade in a AV.
No one else could do it. Now one other AV has it done.

I jus t bought the addon 6 disk changer that going in the escolade and tring to find a XM box from a juck yard to do it. the problem is that it will lock up when installed in another truck. the docs I have says it has to be replaced if that happens because the dealer are not able to unlock the xm boxes.
not sure if they will do a warrenty exchange on it or not if that is what happens.
I am going to find out one of these days.

I finished bolting it in on 01/02/2004.
It's interesting that you are looking at the changer and the XM box. That would be ideal. However, looking at the schematics of the Escalade, it appears that the add-on CD player and the XM box use the same pins on connector C2 of the radio. I could not find a schematic showing them connected at the same time. I wonder if it has to be one or the other?
I guess the easiest thing to do is wait for the Blitzsafe Skylink adapter for my XM. Blitzsafe says I should also be able to connect their soon to be released AUX adapter along with the Skylink adapter. I could then connect a digital player and have my entire music collection to choose from!

the xm, cd changer, and the rse all use the same conector. the data link is what controls it.I have a bunch of printout on the conector and schematics of everything.

OK Guys,
Since it looks like I am going to take my truck back apart to add the vehicle speed signal circuit to the navigation radio, I might as well go for broke.
I'm attempting to order the GM XM Radio parts to add factory XM to my H2.
We shall see how it goes!

I have tried to get one but no luck, the six disk changer is the same no luck. ebay or junk yards are the best bet.

If you are interested in playing a DVD the GM nav system may play it when the H2 is park and the parking brake is on. Some other systems work this way.
