What size of Sub is in the Monsoon system. I was lookin hrough my owners manual and on the web but could not find an answer?

For a factory system there is a decent amount of bass, but I wouldn't mind adding a bit more if possible. Does anyone have pictures of the H3 with the rear panels off to show the sub?

this is not a suprise at all. Monsoon subs blow all the time because of the light weight paper cones. It also matters when listening to a burned cd that might not have as great of quality on a song which causes distortion. If you listen to your music somewhat loud dont be shocked that your subs are getting blown because it happens all the time. Sounds good but quality and craftsmanship lacks on these speakers

I agree that they sound great but lack craftmanship. Monsoon doesn't seem to make it very easy to modify the factory installed system. I had a VW Jetta before the Hummer and it was also Monsoon. Great system, however, not a whole lot of bass as there was no Sub.

The rule of thumb I follow is that I turn the volume up as loud as I want it unless I hear any distortion or any indication that any of the speakers are being over-powered.

Maybe I will invest in an aftermarket sub that I can remove at will to take the stress off of the factory speakers. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

From what I have heard the H3 Monsoon system is better than previous Monsoon systems. I have never had one so only going off what I have heard.

More often than not it is the complete opposite. More speakers are blown from the amp being driven too hard and causing distortion than the amp having too much clean power than the speaker could handle. Clean power being the key part of that statement. Either way it is definitely a great rule of thumb to turn it down if you hear distortion.

There are a number of them on the market if you choose to go that route.

I agree, This system is A LOT better than the system in my old Jetta (2003). The range is the H3 system is incredible. The only thing the jetta had going for it was the fact that is was smaller so it probably didn't need as many watts pushing to deliver quality.

Just wanted to chime in and say again that it wasn't the subwoofer or any other speaker that blew. It was the amp that shot craps. The replacemtn should be at my dealer tomorrow, and I'll have my H3 back. I'm having withdrawl!!!!! The H2 is fun and all......but it's not MINE!

Here are my personal driving impressions of the 06 H2 SUT. I put about 50 miles on it today.

* Everyone stares at this vehicle! I do get stares in my H3, but there is neck breaking going on while driving the H2.

* Adequate power. It can haul butt when you need it. It is a V8 but it actually drives like a V6. A lot of weight to lug around.

* The ride is nice, but much stiffer than the H3. I can whip around in my H3 much better than the H2.

* The cockpit feels and looks like the controls of the space shuttle. Honestly......it's just damn overwhelming. I'm sure that I would get use to it if I were an owner, but I REALLY appreciate the very simple, yet elegant layout of the H3. The H2 does have a lot of extra goodies though.

* Almost everything is impossible to reach without leaning forward. It's a BEAST! The one I'm driving does not have steps to get into the truck, so I had to jump up (literally) to get in. Not fun.....they should come standard with them.

* As I stated in a post before, the stereo is just ok.

* Each and everytime I drive the H2......I cannot stop thinking about offroading. I get it my H3 as well, no doubt about that, but the H2 makes the blood boil in that regard to the extreme. MAN it's bad........LOL

OK......so would I like one. You bet! But I wouldn't give up the H3 for one. They are really apples and oranges. I'd like to have one of each.

I'll let everyone know how the fix goes tomorrow with my amp.

The amp was replaced and all is back to normal. Glad to have my H3 back. I didn't realize just how comfotable it was; all the way around, until I got back into it this afternoon. No explanation as to why the amp shor craps in he first place......just happened. The service dept at Hummmer of Kansas City is fantastic! My hats off to them.

Glad you got it back so quickly.

Did you ever get a chance to stop by Santa Fe Auto Sound?

I did swing by Sante Fe, and they said they have done a couple of XM installs/upgrades, but nothing major as of yet.

I'm very satisfied with the stock system, so I'm keeping it for now. Should I have any other future problems......I'll seriously consider a complete aftermarket setup.

Glad to hear you got your H3 back. Good feedback after driving the H2 SUT. Yea the H3 has attracted buyers like me that never recently considered a GM vehicle. I also own a white H3-lux pkg w/some OEM and aftermarket chrome.

Enjoy.
