I noticed that GM is putting Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires on the base model. I read some reviews that say these tires are horrible. Anyone have any positives/negatives of these tires? I finally took a test drive (this truck is awesome!) and plan to order an H3 October 1 ( would do it sooner but the dealer I like I won't be able to get to until then).

Horrible in what way? The handle great on the pavement which 90% of most H3's will be driving on anyway. They are quiet and handle just fine. I considered 20" AT tires but learned that you lose about 2.5 mpg with them and with the cost of gas these days, not a wise decision.

Thanks for the feedback. I heard that they were ok on dry pavement but some said that they had issues with wet weather/snow and hydroplaned. There were other reviews saying that the tread life on them was pretty short. When I get my H3, I was thinking of having the dealer replace tires with the Goodyear fortera, as I have heard great things about those.

Get the Adventure package with any new H3 and better tires come standard also.

Not that the wrangler tires are bad they aren't good or as good as the BF goodrich

How is the ride with the adventure package? Is it as good as the base or better or rougher? I know it has a different suspension, so I was not sure how it would be. I have only test driven a base model.

In my opinion, the off-road suspension actually smoothes out the MI terrible roads. As for the tires, my Jeep came with RT/S and I had problems in snow, but it might have been the Jeep itself, since it was a lot lighter and had a very small wheelbase.

I have the adventure package also, and I think the ride is basically the same as the standard tires. I test drove several of each before I bought it, and really didn't notice any difference.

I've never seen anything (other than on this forum) about different suspension, I think that may be bogus.

Ride with either isn't going to be Lincoln smooth (thank goodness), but it really is pretty good for this type of truck.

I think your right, in the brochure it reads "off road suspension package", and does not really say there is a difference in the actual suspension. The way it was worded I guess made me think otherwise.... thanks

The GM build sheets state the the off-road suspension package contains different shocks. I would have to comfirm this in a parts manual. Probably different valving.

I have driven both, and that is what it feels like to me. This could be due to the larger tires too; however, the build sheets state the off-road package contains special tuned shocks.

Just confirmed the shocks are different between the standard and the off-road suspension.

Thanks for all the great info! I actually ordered my H3 today and gave them the deposit! I went with: boulder grey/ebony, off-road, auto, trailering equipment/package, sunroof, roof rail airbag. It should take 5-7 weeks per the dealer and he said they have usually been coming in sooner, I hope that is the case!

Not sure who makes 'em. The GM parts information only gives replacement numbers.
