I would not go more than 6" if you are at stock height and not raised.

At stock height, an 8" drop was absolutely perfect for me for pulling my utility trailer on 15" wheels, and my enclosed 14 footer tandem on 15" wheels.

Bottom line...how much drop is going to be dependent on the tongue height of your trailer. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>I don't know. To be safe I would say the 10" version. Because when you drop the ball, the top of the ball is still sitting pretty high they way it's made IIRC.

Honestly, unless you will be pulling a lot of different trailers, there's not much need for the rapid hitch. I run the alumistinger on my truck and pull all kinds of trailers. And most larger, well done, trailers will be set up close to the same. Mine's a 8" drop also.

I will say that the rapid hitch is good if you don't have rear air because you can set it a little high to accomodate the sag from the load so that the trailer is then level when hooked up.
