I've looked all over my dash, and I cannot find a switch or anything that turns on the lights under the headlights (the little round ones). Someone please tell my blind ass where the damn thing is?

They are day time running lights or "DRL's". They only come on while in gear with the headlights off. There is no manuel switch for them.

Heh, that doesn't help much...is there any way to have both them and my headlights on at once? I am not really sure what the point of having them on in the daytime is.

Do not take this the wrong way...but, if you do not know what those lights are for, then your salesman did a poor job explaining the features and benefits of your vehicle.

Does doing that to your lights, having both of htem on at the same time, void any warranties? and can u still have them on during the day?

Having them both on at the same time is no pronlem and should not hurt anything but if you had to take it to the dealer for service or somthing I would remove the jumper from the relay/fuse box. BIG-C

Just remember, you are setting yourself up to be pulled over by the police if you do this.

The DRLs are not meant to be run at night, and will produce glare for the oncoming traffic. If the oncoming traffic happens to be a police cruiser, you might get some glaring lights in your rearview mirror!

Sorry Klaus I understand about the saftey issue but I disagree with you on this one. How can two small parking light size bulbs give more of a glare then the headlights? I dont think anyone will have problems with the police and such. What are they like 8watt bulbs? Try driving at night with your offroad lights on and see what kind of response the police give you then, those are the ones we should worrie about BIG-C

Actually, the 4157K bulb is rated at around 30W. Your 9007 headlight bulbs are 65/55W, so that is not that far off. Also, keep in mind the headlights are focused down on low beam, whereas the DRLS are not.

There are many state laws that dictate how many forward facing lights you can have on at any one time.

Will you get caught? Probably not. However, they are plenty bright at night and you will be noticed, so you are taking a chance. For me, it is just not worth the potential hassle.

I only wanted to point out to folks that there is a good chance that this mod is technically illegal in their state, so they should be aware of the risk.

Yep many states have issue with this.. However in most cases you are allowed to run atleat one set of lights over and above your headlights ( check you local regs.) In most cases you can just plead ignorance. and thank them for telling you about them.. "Darn this H2.. it has so many gadgets I can't figure out how to turn them off.. Can you help me".

Some times just acting stupid helps..

I have mine running together all the time, and have plenty of people flash their brights at me, plenty more get pissed about the light in their back window, but no cops yet.

Adam, I don't get what's cool about having people flash their hi-beams at you and getting pissed about your lights in their rearview?? Are they out of adjustment or because the DRL's are on at the same time. I know it drives me nuts when I'm blinded by other peoples lights. I'm happy to say that I haven't been flashed once in the Hummer, quite good considering the height of the headlights.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it illegal to have fogs running if your highbeams are on? I would think that if you rigged your DTRL to work with your headlights they would remain on when your highbeams go on. I think this would be a problem with the Police

DEpends on your state or local regs.. Indiana allows you to run two additional forward lights. High beam is not an issue.. However check your local rules. I do not believe they add much extra light. Unless you are doing this for the look of the front end in the night . I do not see a reason for having them on in the night.. Mine are going away, will be replacing them with clear strobes ( if they darn parts ever show up)

Una, the lights are Bosch, same as the stock grille guard lights. All 4 are the same, except for the stone guards. I mounted them underneath by drilling into the chrome plastic under the parking light. It's a much more stable mounting place than the spot that the cheap plastic wings are mounted on the side. The roof light are of course, PIAA, as it is a GOBI rack.

WE and NJ, you guys are geeks. Get a life. I never said anything about it being cool. The lights sit high, as does the truck, and it wasn't my design flaw. Since I don't drive with my hi-beams on around other cars, I don't think it will be an issue. But I am glad that you have never been flashed, or pulled over, or whatever. Good for you. You must be very proud.
