Service VME - Updated Outside Rearview Mirrors - keywords chrome DL3 front inoperative power position vibration #PIT3709 - (Sep 8, 2005)
Service VME - Updated Outside Rear View Mirrors
2003-2005 HUMMER H2

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

SERVICE VME
The outside rear view mirrors have been redesigned for the 2006 HUMMER H2 and are much improved over those used on prior models. Should you have the need to replace a mirror on a 2003-2005 H2, replace both mirrors with the 2006 parts which are a slightly different design. Also, the new mirrors are all chrome, there is no black version. I’m sure this would be fine for most customers. The new part numbers are 15835056 left and 15835057 right.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed

Same here. They replaced them once already about a year ago. If it gets below about 34 degrees they won't fold.

I stopped by the dealership today and told them my mirrors needed to be replaced because one of them was shaking violently. He told me they are still replacing with the 05's so I told him I'd wait.

He also told me not to replace the PS mirror glass as he'll take care of it for me.

I love those guys at HALL.

reply to the new 2006 mirrors...My 2005 mirrors failed when you tryed to fold them in. I guess there was a engineering problem. Anyway, my dealer installed the new 2006 mirrors. They are alot more stable. The housing with the elecrical parts is all enclosed, the shaft that comes out of the door to the mirror is slightly larger and all metal.

I went to my dealer 3 months ago and he told me about this, geez I thought South Dakota was the last to hear stuff, I guess not. The mirrors are not a recall, just a bulletin from what he told me. If your factory warranty is over, it wont be covered. All it is saying is if a H2 comes in with a bad mirror, they will replace it not fix it. If you own a extended warranty then if they quit working, then it would cost you the deductable.

I took mine in for the passenger side mirror not folding in and they replaced em with the new style mirrors. IMO, I think they do look better than the old style ones.
