I would think so. Just takes money and the skill to use the right material. I can ask the guys what they think about it.
We work and lay carbon fiber by hand and different kinds of glass and molding material. It would require one on site as I would not want to trust measurements in order to get a good tight fit.
I have thought about doing it on my daily driver SUT for next year that I have been thinking about.

Arnold has one---there is a pic of it around somewhere. It is slick with metal and glass.

I think if everyone will search there was a thread about someone trying it. I'm not sure if anyone tried. I know a carpenter made on offer to build one but, do not know where it went.
I think what We would do is build a mold and even though it would be painted use carbon fiber and honey comb type cardboard to lay it so it would be strong and light.
I'll talk to the guys after the weekend about it. We are trying to finish up for a contest week from friday and last one of the year until I think March 2006. Allot to do next week and Sikkens is excited about the Shop Boss paint design and is furnishing all the paint Dragon told Me tonight. We have left inside is 12" monitor and installing the 4 captain seats that Katzkin sponsored the covering. Plus a bunch of LED's and billet.
If I can remember I'll ask Boss what he thinks but, as far as material and possibilty Dragon would know more than any of Our crew as he went of to school for all that stuff and is certified A/V man.

Use the find button for "slantback."
I gave up on this. I even tracked down the manufact. of the three that are in extistance and no luck. They will not produce it without some paying for the tooling costs. BS is what I said!

Actually, it's not too farfetched to think that it would be somewhat expensive to create a tooling for it.
It would likely be cheaper to go the custom route.

Oh, I would like to add that:
Add on shells would look good, provide lockable storage (well, the ones in the pictures don't show lockable), but you would have some weatherproofing issues as well as fit/finish issues when mounting it.

That would be Our problem Tim is cost being held down. I really think We could do it with the same type material Burt Rutan uses in His planes but, they would be each one by hand. I'm interested enough I'll take this up with Dragon as i mentioned He knows how to use all that stuff and hand lay it. So You now how it is when it is done by hand and cannot be mass produced at least not in Our case. We do allot of one of things but, the client pays for it and they know when they come it will not be cheap. WE could have 2 guys on a bag system build for a month and some times 2 when there is no prebuilt system and We build the bag system by hand for the ride. But, there are just some people that want something so unique they do not care. I know You told them it did not matter what it cost within reason but, they would not do it. Maybe We can get a rig in after i talk to the guys and We can get real good measurements and use a SUT to build the first mold on then it would make it easier once We have a mold We know We can work with and ship so We can see how fit turned out. Hopefully it will just set right on the rig with rubber seals. The hard part would be getting it to hinge but, it is doable. It would be great to get some detailed pics that could be used to formulate a somewhat different plan.
It would be cool and fun to try it if We could find the time or someone to put up the money to produce a workable rig or not pay for all of it but, cover labor expended and We eat the material if it did not work. It would be an experiment and the client understand that also.

While at it, how hard would it be to make a cover for the bed that was easily removable? this would be much easier to build and profitable

First of all, Firm is a bigot.
Second, I'd love to have a slantback. Then I could pose as an H1.
