Probably not a whole lot. According to the GM Media website XM is supposed to be available in the head unit for 2005.

Pretty cool though!

I just picked up the XM Commander & am going to install it tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes, it looks like a nice unit with the hide away tuner and the smaller head.

I put the XM Commander in my H2 last week. It fits like a charm and the antenna is so small you can't see it unless you're looking for it.

Placed the antenna in front of the mounted antenna. You can't tell its there. I will try to get some interior photos on line.

Here's a picture of the XM Commander from the Crutchfield site. Notice the RCA output jacks.

Klaus,

Just to help me understand the H2 head unit...

Even though the Commander has the RCA out jacks...you'd still need another adapter to get it into the H2 head unit??? I take it the H2 head unit has NO RCA inputs??

If you use the adapter, and do the RCA inputs, how does it show up on the head unit??? As an AUX???

Yes, using the Soundgate adapter AND an IP bus to RCA adapter, you would have an AUX as an option while cycling through the options using the BAND button.

In a nutshell, the Soundgate adapter allows the use of Pioneer options to connect to the GM stereo. Pioneer calls their option connector an IP Bus. Pioneer sells several options. XM Modules, CD Changers, and RCA adapters. Two Pioneer options can be daisy-chained into the Soundgate adapter.
