Two of the guys in our offroad club have sold their Wranglers for H3s and I think they are all pretty happy. I've ridden in Mike's and I like everything about the H3 except for the engine - H3 probably will be my next ride.

I've got both a Jeep Unlimited, and a H2 and love them both. They each have thier own abilities, and disabilities, and they both rock in their own world.
As long as we can all wheel togther,
Can't we all just get along!

I own both . The H 3 will not follow my Grand , but my Grand is a long way from stock . 2 Det lockers . Multi port V 8 . 7 " lift and 6 point cage .

Iv ran a new Jeep commander , off road they have nothing coming . The H 3 in stock form can not keep up with a Rubicon due to it having 2 lockers but other then that model the H 3 can out off road any other stock jeep .

There were only three choices, the new Powerwagon, the H3, or the Unlimited Rubicon. I test drove all three. I needed a third vehicle, especially suited for driving to work 45 miles through the mountains every day. The Dodge, awesome. Eats gasoline like an F-15 on afterburner though, a guy in town told me that first hand. The Rubicon, I could get everything I wanted for the trails. I love the concept. One trip back to back with the H3 though and as much as I wanted the Rubicon, there's no freakin' way I was going to drive that sucker 90 miles in the twisties everyday, especially after I put 33" tires on it like I wanted. Yeah, the Rubicon very well might have a slight edge offroad, but not off the showroom, neither's a Grand. I do a good bit of offroading but I do even more driving. To me, especially for the insurance, initial outlay and all other things considered, the H3 is particulary suited to my needs. The H3's wide, low stance, even considering that it has ancient old leaf springs out back does quite nicely in the twisties. If I drove a Rubicon or Grand (can you put 33-35" tires on one?) up and down the mountain the way I drive the H3, I'd roll it or punch out a corner into the woods. As I've said before, handling is paramount, in addition to going offroad well.

If I want to anything more serious than the H3 offroad, I'll build a rock rig, using anything else is just going to cost cubic dollars or have me riding around in a hammered jacked up rig that's not very much fun to drive to work. Tall sucks, and sucks BAD.

I've wheeled a long time and nuthin' but nuthin' sucks worse than side hilling when all's at risk. I can winch/drag over an object but sidehilling is the not something that I like doing in any lifted vehicle at all. I COMPLETELY understand the need for roll cages and have built a few full cages myself. I'd rather not need them. I've seen lots and lots of rolled Jeeps, and most of them were lifted.

Here's a question for people here:

Will you be able to put a limited slip or locker in the front end of an H3? With that, a stronger tie rod, and upgraded axle shafts, what then?

With the traction comtrol system, you don't need to do that as it reacts seemlessly and quickly.

Id agree for mtn roads the H 3 would be the answer . While my Grand is pretty stable and ok to drive on the road it certainly will not handle like the stock H3 .

I owned a 98 TJ at one time and would not care to make that a daily driver for any distance even stock .

In 4lo, the traction control is off. I've already spun it on a really steep climb. I'm used to a front locker from the last Scout I built. I'd really like on on the H3. Problem is, in low range, it'll break parts unless they're beefed up.

Hmmm...this is interesting. While we were testdriving the H3 this weekend, we asked two salesman this question...when you lock the rear locker in 4-lo, IS TRACTION CONTROL still active on the front axle??

Both salesman said, "YES". So, what's the real answer here??

Thanks for the answer...but i could have sworn that i was asking the previous poster since he off-roads with his H3. And i am ONLY interested in the H3. When i have an H2 question, then i will ask you. Are we clear? It's pretty simple.

Try and keep your mouth shut next time, OK?! Shhh...don't talk until spoken to. Your momma never taught you that?! Shhh!

You're still pissed about our last conversation?? Here's a tissue for your tears.

Well, you dumb little shit box driver, I HAVE driven the H3 off road(quite a bit) and HAVE experience with the transmission.
Now it's on, you little bitch. Now you're going to be my #1 shitting target. FYI, I never get tired of e-dogging some mouthy little turd. Just wait until I go to your MB board and really start the fun there. ALL of it is going to be your fault and people there are going to be less than happy with the fun you've brought to them.

BTW, does your "brother"(is that what you guys call your anal pals now?) ever do anything without you holding his wee wee for him? Why not have your brother join the forum? At least there's a chance that he doesn't have your piss ant little attitude. You are the perfect example of someone hiding behind a keyboard.

raarr....

Here's some KY for your upcoming reaming.

Oh holy $hit dude. I've only been here a short time but it really didn't take long to figure out that there's about 5 people on this board you don't want to piss off. Thai, put your tail between your legs and run away now or he's gonna rock your world, and the rest of us will sit back and enjoy the show. I'm gonna go throw some popcorn in the microwave.
