Hey All,

Just finished the HH in Detroit and had a blast! When I went to the site I saw a lot of events for this month, does anyone know how often the events occur.

Also, I have lots of photos from the Detroit Event if anyone would like them posted. For now I'll just give you the one of my fat ass next to my H3 at the end of the day

Hey,

In my opinion, it was pretty serious off roading. Many, many parts of the trail it was 3 wheels on the ground. Lots of telephone poles accross the trail, and 12" deep ruts. Some of the hills were 4 Low with the locker engaged.

Afternoon, was some serious mud. (I will fess up I didn't make one of the hills my firs try). However, a few H2's didn't either. Basically it was a a rough trail that looped around to a long deep mud pit (basically you need speed to get you through even in 4 low locked.) Then you hit the top of a 10' hill where you staged, to go down into a deep mud pit then directly up another 10' hill. This was 4 low locked, foot to the floor (the one I and some H2's didn't make the first time around).

I can say this. My H3 with Adventure and automatic had no problems following the H2s around. (Actually there were about 7 H3 (all with adventure package or Lux and Off Road Package) and we all made in through without a sweat. The obsticals were enough the when you crested them you were looking up at the sky or nose into the ground.

I'm not saying this was like the worlds roughest trails but you needed a ton of articulation to get around. Lets just say I can think of another vehicle in stock form that would have survived the day.

I have some photos comming.

Hummer Happenings are required by dealers who are enrolled in the Hummer Standards of Excellence program. Most dealers are enrolled because they receive a sales bonus if all requirements are meet on a per quarter basics. The dealer is supposed to have 3 this year with at least one off-road. Hummer has changed this rule several times but basically one per quarter.

Excellent! Thanks for the info!

How do they work the invites? Is it most recent purchased working back, or is it just a mass mailer to everyone who ordered from that dealership?

Thanks,

Dennis

We just had one in seattle. I was invited through my cousin who received the actually invite. Drty just showed up...

One thing I found is that going over 5mph really cranked on my rear diff when it's locked... Did you hear any strange noises coming from it at the end of the day?

Hey dochummer,

I did hear a few odd noises, almost like brakes squeal when the pads are low. However they were fleeting, and there was so much crap under the vehicle who knows...

I did notice that the locker dis-engaded several times. Basically it was a hill that you floored it down, hit a mud pit, then immediately up another hill. I may have hit 15 MPH on the way down, wich I think is close to /exceeds the limit.

Well I finally got a chance to post MisterE's pics from the Hummer Happenings event in Detroit. Got to say, I believe he is the first to really get an H3 dirty. Great pics E.

The new rules are for 4 events, 2 off road and 2 on road.

Thanks a lot for getting those posted! I really appreicate you doing this!

Good news, the replacement part for the inner wheel well that cracked during this little adventure has arrived!!! (Fingers crossed they warranty it).

Also is there anything out there to protect the metal bumper that the D-Rings bolt to? It got scuffed up big time during the event. (They had two hills with a mud pit inbetween, I think they didn't adjust the angles for the H3s :-( )

Thanks Again!

PS

Any ideas how to keep the engine and underhood semi-clean. I don't want to go too crazy with the house, but I am still getting mud off the fan, and that is after A LOT of washing!

(Still worth it? YEP )

you could not go as fast through the mud -- but what fun is that? Just make sure all your plugs are on tight before you go out on an adventure...it sucks to get water/mud in your power steering, etc...we had to get a whole new power steering pump once because of the water in it...draining didn't work. expense of fun? probably..

I have a question, after moving here to MI from TN, where in the Detroit area did you find hills? Compared to TN, everything here seems so flat.
