hmmm, comparing combat kills to murder rates, I'm not so sure I'd rather live in Iraq over Detroit...

"There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January. In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq."

apples should be compared to apples:

"Crime is also high [in Iraq], and is worst in Baghdad, where the murder rate is about twice that of Washington, DC (where it is currently 43 per 100,000 population per year)."

"Detroit came in second [behind Washington DC]...with 42.04 per capita."

not trying to start anything here (Steve, you know I'm your buddy!) but it's gross exaggerations and generalizations like these that make me think twice about what someone is saying, and what else is being exaggerated (even if what one is saying makes me feel good).
