The way these flares are designed make me think that using tape would be difficult. The reason I say that is because the underside is installed first so that everything lines up nicely and is held secure. The flares really don't have much flex so adding the tape after securing the underside just won't happen without risking some damage to the flares.

Furthermore, if you use tape the flare will stick out some and not be flush with the body.

Drilling into the truck is really no big deal if you've checked everything off and made sure to seal up the holes to prevent rust.

As an aside to the instructions I wrote above, I would only add these flares in warm weather, not cool. The plastic expands in the heat and I have a couple of <1/32" gaps from the binding of the flares against the screws.
