Re: New Popping Sound
I hate to sound like a tool, but I am not as mechanically-inclined as most of the members here. Looking at the pictures, is that not supposed to poke out the top like that? The reason I am asking is because I want to know what to look for. I have been getting a popping sound for the past two weeks from the front end of my H2. I took it to the dealership, but they just took a quick glance and never really looked too hard. They just greased everything and want me to see if it goes away. It was near closing on Friday, so they wouldn't have gone over things too well, judging from how fast I was in and out.

It definitely shouldn't be popped out like that.
Before you go to dealership you should lube it yourself to get passed that lazy dealer excuse on a Friday. Get yourself a grease gun with an 18" hose, then do a search and find one of the dozen posts Phil has provided about the 11 zerk/lube points.

I am not saying that they told me they were doing a quick check only because it was a Friday. I was just guessing. But I agree that sometimes doing it yourself is the best way. I will check out Canadian Tire and try to get that equipment. I managed an oil change on my own, so this is a step up.
