Hey Neo, leaving work at 3:30, no bosses right now, no bosses for a while now, so I've been computing on the forums today. lol Just a bit while I'm scanning a bunch of pics. It's funny, about 2 hours ago, he got about halfway through a conversation of what we need to get done in Oct and Nov, well, what I needed to get done on different cases that are going to court...... till he realized I won't be here. At first I didn't see it, but now after seeing the video again, I must say, "ouch", having that happen in a remote area would be terrible!

How would you get out of that mess?

I think if that happened to me I would be real nice to whoever was with me and had the experience to assist in repairing it! And I wouldn't just sit and supervise either...I don't mind getting my hands dirty or greasey at all! I do all my repairs on my truck as it is now.

On a more serious note, is it possible for a novice to change a tie rod a la the above photo? Carrying spares isn't a bad idea for extreme terrain. Ok - somewhat newbie question - are the rods universal or do you need to carry one for each side (re: left and right)?

the trail fix is pretty simple just need an inner and outer spare . left and right side are same . count the number of turns in bent rod when removing then set new rod at same amount of turns . good enough to get to pavement , then seek professional help for an alignment check - adjustment . hey guys i just picked up a ball-joint / tierod fork that will be handy in the future for removal its in the tool bag !!!!!
