I'd second (or third) that. I did a lot of research for ours, and ended up with the Britax
Boulevard. I'd also like to add, keep them rear facing until you reach the seat's height/weight limit! They are MUCH safer rear facing, and most Britax convertible seats go to 31 or 33 lbs rear facing, which means at least three years old for most kids.
If you need a forward facing seat,
Recaro makes a great seat as well, but I am still waiting for them to come out with their convertible (rearward and forward facing), web site says coming in 2007.
P.S. -- We had out Boulevard in an H3 rear facing for an extended test drive, it fits in the center seat position without issue, but could not be used in an outboard seat position rear facing. There was still enough room for an adult on either side of the seat, and the seat belt buckles could be reached, but it was a bit cramped.
