Custom stereo idea, need thoughts/recommendations
Folks,
We're thinking of making an H2 with a good bit of stereo stuff in it. I thought I'd come to you guys for your thoughts and recommendations as far as brands go and what experiences you've had.
Here's what I want to do, starting with a 2007 Black H2 with no nav (the * means I need a recommendation on a good solid brand, I don't have a ton of experience with aftermarket stereo equipment):
Aftermarket Head Unit w/nav*
2 Tweeters*
2 Front Door Speakers (as well as the size)*
2 Rear Door Speakers (ditto on the size)*
2 12" subs (I'm having two fiberglass enclosures made)*
Amp to power it all*
Clifford RSX 3.5 Security/Remote Start system
Savv 10.2" Headrest (yes, headrest) DVD players
KVH Tracvision A5
If there's anything I'm missing (besides visor screens and stuff like that, I have to keep all of this state of Texas legal), please let me know your thoughts and recommendations. Thanks guys!

Just drop it off at Earmark on Parker and let Chris do the install. Frank will help you choose the components. They have everything you listed in stock and Chris is an award winning installer.

I've done plenty of business with Earmark, I'd rather have my guy do it. Chris is a heck of an installer, I'm with you there.

What about a head unit?? The 3.5 is an older unit now; look at the 10.5 which claims to have 1 mi range (we have not verified this yet, but they do have outstanding range). I would also stick with the viz headrests as they are much higher quality than the saav units.

Re: Custom stereo idea, need thoughts/recommendations
I haven't had any problems with Vizualogic in the past, I just like the 10.2" Savvs, we haven't had many problems with those either.
GM is actually switching from Invision to Vizualogic in a couple of months for their dual player system that will be featured in the new Glacier Blue Limited Edition.

Is this even available yet? I've been looking left, right and center for a dealer with pricing/stock of the 10.5...

Try looking at Xenarc if You are looking for just screens. That is the brand we installed in front center console a 12" touchscreen they have.

?????
It seems Alpine has the better Ipod hookup. On avic411 everyone complains about the ipod integration on the pioneer Z1 and as far as I see the ipod speed is the reason that Alpine buyers choose that brand.
Can you elaborate?

all i can say is when my installer showed me the ipod function on the pioneer it worked and looked just like the ipod. at least at the time when i did the install it was the best for me. ive never seen the alpine ipod before so i cant say. i dont remember the model number for the pioneer ( ican check if needed) but it was cheep like 700 bucks i think. one thing i didnt like was the 6.5 inch screen, i was used to the 7 inch screen in other cars.

Re: Custom stereo idea, need thoughts/recommendations
i like mb-quarts or boston acoustics for mobile audio stuff. The focals are nice, haven't had any experience with them but have heard them at the shop and they are alright.
Amps, im kinda retarded so i like to match all of my stuff, so, i try to keep my subs/speakers/amps all from the same brand. THis way of think has brought me alot of headaches but heh, we all ahve our ticks!!
head units, i really like this one without nav
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...671418,00.html
but since you said nav........ " now where is that card... hmm...oh..... BAMMM!!!!!"
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...unit=AVIC%20Z1
avic-Z1 7" screen, pioneer nav , bluetooth.. this is what im going for.
for subs, well, Jl's are nice, mb-quarts subs are sweet and the bostons are also good. There is kicker which is very common, i like the MTX high end series, (9000 i thnk) a bit better though.
how are you gonna place your subs?

you might wanna do a lil more research bro JLs smoke MTX and mb-quartz are nice but cant take high volume. if you like to match that means a MTX amp. for sure not the best jl makes a good amp but zapco would be better. i guess it depends what kinda music and what level you wanna bring it to. me i blast head bangin music and like it to be crystal clear. every now and then i like to play rap music just to feel the base make my eyes shake.
