245 hp, V6 .....big deal!!! What are the departure and approach angles? You have to modify that thing to be wheelable! The skid plate is Plus, who wants to be seen in it! The FJ probably the gheyest of the ghey!

Have you ridden in one? I wouldn't say a thing until your hanging on the side of a cliff, very capable. Not pretty, but capable.

Yeah, but to put it in the same league as the H3, it'd take a lot of money, and it wouldn't sidehill very nicely. The FJ's turning radius it awful, it's mileage a couple MPG lower, and to put 35s on it takes a lot of dough. How about it's crawl ratio?

Again, I think Jeep missed the boat by not putting the PowerWagon's drive train under it, it'd be a kick butt rig then!

Likewise with the H3, and I'm gonna harp on it until they make it: Right size the components for the abuse. Make the Alpha, they will come.

I rarely take acception to post here but Scout II's were great trail vehicles. 165 HP but well over 350 LB of torque. dana 's front and rear. Now as I slightly age I would never consider one, road manners were equal to a pig and the body rusted as you watched. It had a fully boxed frame, easily lifted.....

I love my 3, probably the best all around vehicle I have owned, but the Scout was a fine vehicle. Remember, in the wise words of Sir Rodney King, "Can't we all get along"

Haha thats just it I think everyone is getting along great, not too much name calling, and just a good ol shop talkin group, checking numbers. I had a 73 Scout II. 345, 4 speed, good stump puller, again like my FJ40 much like driving a tractor, but agreed one of the best factory wheeling rigs ever produced.

compared to what? a VW bug?

There was nothing great about them except that their skin was thick. They were bare bones simple design. We had a fire under the dash, choke cable break, seat bolts break and it simply didn't articulate for a solid axle vehicle. It was horridly unbalanced on the trail and bounced too damn much.

Don't get your feelings hurt. We had a '76 for parts (I think the years are right) and ran the '77. It just didn't cut the mustard unless you modded it a lot which I couldn't afford to do in High School.

I gotta agree, I built a few myself, they're hell bent for stout. Rust though, oh geez, you couldn't keep a Scout from rusting out. I just gave up and let mine oxidize. I had full cage, winch, lockers front and rear, a 304, granny low five speed and Dana 300. It was killer. One thing it couldn't do, no how, no way, and what the H3 does soooooo much better, is sidehill. It's one reason that I have no plans to lift my H3. Some folks have a higher pucker capability than I do. Low as I can go and still get there does it for me.

A fawkin waste of 5 minutes of my life, reading this ghey ass thread.

Another troll hiding under the guise of being interested in a 3, while throwing out insults.

Come in here like I give a fawk about his questions and veiled insults. Anybody can write on the internet. Go wheel a fawkin 3, rent one, go with a 3 owner if you even have a rig at all.

I wheel with Jeeps. My 3 is better in lots of terrain, their Jeeps keep up in some ****. The Rubi's are capable and good climbers if they don't tip over.

Problem with Jeep is quality, it's shiat. Modify the fawker and the factory doesn't want to honor the warranty. Fawk this troll.

Few arguments, but not many, To only lose a couple miles a gallon , and gain 25 horses and a good amount of torque, well, that might sway me towards the FJ, keep in mind Im most likely driving home in a H3 tonite, so. The other thing is that tire size isn't always going to be the determining factor in getting through an obsticle. On to Jeeps (Rubicon) - 44s front and rear in something as light as a wrangler body is plenty stout for me unless I want to run 37" tires which would require a significant lift (Rubicon Express) as it is, so having said that. Also keep in mind that I come from a rock crawling background, so I have knowledge bias towards that type wheeling. Again with all due respect to all.

Po-lice officer, how can it be?
You can 'rest everybody but cruel Stagolee
That bad man, oh cruel Stagolee

Billy DeLyon told Stagolee, "Please don't take my life
I got two little babes and a darling, loving wife"
That bad man, oh cruel Stagolee

"What'd I care about your two little babes and darling, loving wife?
You done stole my Stetson hat, I'm bound to take your life."
That bad man, oh cruel Stagolee

Boom boom, boom boom,
Went the forty-four.
Well when I spied Billy DeLyon
He's lyin' down on the floor.
That bad man, oh cruel Stagolee

Gentlemens of the Jury,
What you think of that?
Stagolee killed Billy DeLyon
'bout a five-dollar Stetson hat.
That bad man, oh cruel Stagolee

Standin' on the gallows, head way up high
At twelve o'clock, they killed him, they's all glad to see him die
That bad man, oh cruel Stagolee.
