Yes, this should be a Non-Profit or a Not for profit. By doing so it will help bring in more donations. You will have to talk with a Tax advisor or local CPA about which to use.
This is a great idea, it should be a success!

I agree completely.
Any parent here should be able to recognize how incredibly painful this time would be for another parent in this situation.
Anything that helped them at a time like this, will probably be remembered by them, forever.
