If you are thinking the Sarasota area let me know, my mom has a place there and spends a month or two a year down here. I can get you plenty of info, just let me know what you want to know.

In the Sarasota area I would recommend looking at Bird Key right on the inter coastal. I would also look at Longboat Key. Used to have a place there and it is very nice but is also very pricey. CP would love St. Armands circle for shopping. If you live on Longboat you can also join the beach club, nice private beach area with facilities. Have to live on Longboat but we are grandfathered in

Also as mentioned before, take a look at Marco Island. My uncle moved down there a few years ago and loves it. I can get info on there as well if interested.

Keep in mind that the west coast of FL has much better beaches than the east coast until you get down near Miami.
