Re: 20" Black/Machined Lip KMC Backseat Needed BAD!!!
I may have a solution for you. Try calling Andrew Pearl, GM, at Direct tire in Watertown, MA (617-923-1800). He has a set of 4 20" black/machined, small bore center, KMC wheels that were recently taken off of my truck. I had problems with the finish peeling and went through over 20 of the wheels trying to get 5 that were acceptable. I went to the polished version and had problems with those as well before moving on to another brand.
Anyway, the four wheels at Direct Tire are the ones that were not returned to KMC as defective from my fiasco. If you call Andrew mention that you are calling about Zimmerman's KMC wheels. He knows that someone from the forum may call. Not sure if he can break up the set but thought you would want the info.
Good luck.

Much appreciated man! I'm going to give a call first thing in the morning as I cannot imagine he's still around given the fact that it's 7:30 P.M. back there now. I'll see what I can do to score one, or even two of them if I have to.
I was also thinking about going the polished route as an option but if you had problems with them I may avoid going that route. Waht issues did the polished ones cause?
Thanks again,
Dan
P.S. I'll let you know how it turns out and get you the finder's fee if all works out!
Re: 20" Black/Machined Lip KMC Backseat Needed BAD!!!
I would recommend that you avoid the stainless/polished version at this time. From what I could learn from a distributor the stainless ring is a press-in fix for clearcoat peeling problems on the machined version. I went through seven of the stainless lip wheels before giving up. I experienced two problems with the stainless versions. One issue was that the ring would migrate to the outside of the wheel giving the impression that the wheel was bent/warped while rotating.
Secondly, there was gap betwee the bottom of the ring and the wheel with contributed to dents from highway rocks and trapped water during washing and weather.
the four machined lip wheels that Andrew has retained should be in new or very close to new condition.
Please let me know how it works out.
Regards,
Joel

Talked to Andrew today and may just take all four...never hurts to have a spare or two or three! I'm going to touch base with him again on Monday and I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks again man,
Dan

I was curious about your decision regarding the wheels.
