I wonder how many cylinder heads Toyota has had to replace this year.

Ego, being slow to respond to what people want and need and putting out junk for many years. I think the big three finally are listening. I hope it's noty too late
The US taught the Japanese everything they know about manufacturing and theen they improved it
To bad the US companies are closing plants when the Japanese companies are building new ones.

There's no question that coming in fresh, Toyota had some advantages over Detroit: It was unburdened by retiree obligations, union contracts that had been bid up over decades, and brands like Oldsmobile that refused to make money (or die). And yes, it was lucky to have small cars ready to sell when the first oil shocks hit in the 1970s.

Probably more than they will ever publicize. I understand, many here believe Toyotas, Hondas, etc., never break; however, both those dealers have busy service departments, and it can't be just because they are cleaning new vehicles. Read other articles on Toyota and how they have been hiding some recalls, and how their quality has been dropping lately due to higher production rates.
I'm not saying Toyota does not make good cars and trucks....they DO. I'm just saying to those who imply they don't break....they DO Break.

And let's not forget Toyota's infamous engine oil sludge problem: http://www.petitiononline.com/TMC2003/petition.html

As for cylinder heads, let's not forget that other great Jap car company...Nissan, and how last year they had to stop production due to faulty engines.
