Very informative thread.
Thats funny I guess I am and amatuer tribologist considering I definately know all about the science of friction, lubriction and interacting surfaces of movement. I always had considered myself better called an amatuer gynocologist, but tribologist will work.

I dont know man. Everything that I have read seemed convincing to me that I should follow manufacturers specs. Im pretty sure my Audi is specd for 10w 30w but GM obviously isn't. I would just read the oil cap and not question it, per the resident professional, F5.
