Friends who look at my Hummer always say "wow it's a stick, cool!"
The manual tranny appeals to our love of the KISS principal. I can understand how it works, that is. As for an auto tranny, I haven't got the faintest idea what's going on inside that hot and heavy thing.

I don't worry about the steepest of grades offroad either. I had to stop on a very steep trail once to move a tree out of the way. Regaining forward progress was as easy as letting the clutch out and easing off the brake while the engine was simply idling, and she began crawling up the trail just like that, no slipping or stalling.

so, I vote for a 5 speed manual V8 Alpha (with auto tranny and chrome optional)

I think Manuel would agree!

I had the wide ratio four speed in my last Scout. I installed a hand throttle, it was absolutely essential in harder four wheeling.

I'm gettin' old, I prefer the auto. It works great.

I guess my wife will have to get used to 2 Hummers in the drive way because I just might want the Alpha after I test drive one, but I won't want to part with the original "green stick"
