well just got back from a ouick run here on base, and it worse  going to dealer during lunch

Did you try opening the hood and sticking your head in there and trying hear where its coming from? Have someone step on the gas and see if its a fan, or a belt or something. If no sound in park you'll know its drivetrain. Remember that sticker on the front drive shaft another forum local found to be hitting the cross member or skid plate and making racket upon acceleration? Worth a check.

The power loss is normal, when the clutch comes on now the fan is pulling A lot more air which tries to slow down the motor. Just like turning on the ac will pull the motor down A little. This is why electric fans are used in performace applications so there is no horsepower being robbed by spinning A fan
