No benefit off-road

Large diameter wheels with shorter sidewalls do nothing for off-road performance or ride.

Number one reason is appearance. Secondarily, some aftermarket multi-piston brake calipers need a larger wheel to accommodate their size.

If you want to go 40" or larger, consider changing your gearing. Changing shift points on the computer has its limitations.
