Re: Hummer prices going up?
Yep, it's all about the dues. Union membership is the lowest it ever has been. So they are feeling the pinch. Imagine if we ever get our immagration situation ever resolved. The so called cheap labor workers would be eligible to be in a union. Thus, the so called cheap labor would be no longer. Just my opinion.

Pittsburgh is a HUGE union area, why do you think we have little to no new companies coming into the area. no one wants to nor can they afford to be competitive paying someone the "union" rate. I know guys that work in a local mill here and the union got them 8 weeks vacation. How the hell can a company afford to pay a person to NOT be there for 2 months!

Re: Hummer prices going up?
Yeah it's a joke. I know w guy that started a company making small misc. plastic parts for gm, including hummer. He pays his people around $7.50 an hour. Makes a killing because GM will gladly pay him a premium for the parts because they will still save a bundle because they would have to pay 2-3 times the labor that he does. I read that GM pays more for benifits per year than steel. Don't know if that is 100% true, but I bet that it is not far off.

I wouldnt doubt that it is true about the cost of benefits they have. Slowly but surely the unions will price themselves out of the market. Can you blame GM for outsourcing? I cant. They really have no choice in a competitive market.

Re: Hummer prices going up?
It's sad though, the country will suffer in the end. I see not benefit.
