Default Steps For Factory Rocker Bars

Hey everyone,

Those of you with Rock Rails may find this interesting as well as those looking for steps that do not mount too low. HBH3 first brought these to my attention and I saw them first hand on an H2 at the dealership today. It looked as though GM manufactured a step that bolts to the frame in the same location as the rock rail and carved a notch in the step to fit over the bar. Almost like it snaps over the rock rail. At first glance it looks like one piece. But looking at it closely you can see that its two pieces, the bar and the steps. Also, the plastic strip between the rock rail and the body of the H2 is notched out to fit the steps. I know I know, where is the pic? I didn't have a camera with me but I'm working on it and will post them soon.

Thanks!
H3

Seen those on the special edition H2's. Never on an H3 though. Although the Boulder Acc./Amstar ones are similar.

ya same seen em only on the special edition H2, never the regular H2 or an H3. It does look good but does it really help you get into your car?!?! Also are you sure its two pieces it defintly looks like its one piece.

Yes they were on a special edition H2. It was that light blueish green color. Not my favorite by far. As for it being two steps, it sure looked like it. But I could be wrong. Though I did see a bracket for the step that bolted to the frame right next to where the Rocker Rails are bolted. I asked a salesman, but of course he had no idea what as going on.

They are only for the H2. come on s.e. but you can get them for reg. H2. Amstar is where a guy can get them, they are not for the H3.

They are made by Quantum for Hummer:

http://dev.qtww.com/home.php?cat=297

You can get the steps on ebay lots of the time:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HUMMER-H2-SPECIAL-EDITION-aluminum-side-steps-set-of-4_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33650QQihZ006QQitemZ1 60164411615QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I purchased a set for my H2 from Quantum with their wider flares as shown in this thread: http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...t=29825&page=2

The should fit over the OEM rocker protection bars, but you may need to fab up some braces for the bolts to mount to. They will stick out really far and not sure they would look good on the 3 unless you had a wide wheel/tire combo. I have 13.5" wide tires on my 2 and the steps stick out the side as far as the tire does!
