Default Re: Speedo is eratic

I have a 2003 H2. Love it when it runs, but have to admit it has been in the shop 15% of the time I have owned it. No exageration.

The speedometer works properly sometimes, then other times will say I'm going 100 mph when I'm doing 25. Or it might say 0 mph when I'm doing 70mph. I was told by Ontario dealership, and also Cerritos that I need to replace the speedometer cluster. They wanted (Ontario) I think about $361 just for the part. I skipped the repair. Now I have found this board and am very thankful for the advice.

First, I am going to call GM Customer Service and ask if they wish to have it fixed while it currently is sitting at Cerritos for another problem. I will suggest it should be a RECALL item, and see what they say. At least they will become aware that people are learning of the problem.

If your problems continue, you may want to bring it in to Tustin Hummer. Never been there myself -- but SoCal's infamous Hummer master mechanic Mike Sabarese just moved to Tustin Hummer from Cerritos. In the past, his help has been awesome to my H2's problems. Personally, if I have anything more serious than a bad idler or pitman, I'd drive all the way to Tustin just so that Mike can look at it. 2cents!
