Re: Want to Buy
If you have a basically new jeep that you are trying to trade in, you are screwed. The only way to get the best deal on an H3 is to separate the transactions (sell the jeep yourself), otherwise they'll do whatever they want to with the dollars on paper.
1) Sell the jeep
2) Use the GMID to get the H3 you want
3) watch the kids heads turn when you drive by
Good luck.

Re: Want to Buy
bigger down payment will get that month cost down. Sounds like you should be looking at slightly used.
If you were that frugal, you wouldn't be ditching the jeep so soon.

Re: Want to Buy
Humble Ag, do I know you? I am Aggie class of 96I live in The Woodlands and I guess you are in Humble? What Hummer dealership do you deal with? I assume you bought from McGinnis or Beck and Masten or maybe DeMontrond?
Selling my Jeep is the best bet. taking the $ and pay off the loan take what little I get and put to the H3.

Class of '85. I bought my first H3 at Demontrond. Good dealership, service guys are easy to work with. Paid MSRP because they were brand new and I wanted it. Went back to them to trade for the second one (long story but I wanted a sunroof) and they thought they had me since I bought my first one there. They didn't have quite the right truck or the right price. Beck & Masten had just gotten the franchise and had just what I wanted on the lot (adventure/sunroof), plus they were more interested in dealing. Haven't used their service yet, but I did go to a baseball game Hummer Happening and it was awesome.
Good luck, you'll be pleased with the H3 when you get it.

Re: Want to Buy
Try Ron Carter or McGinnis. I bought a 06 H3 base from Ron Carter, and traded it for a 07 H3 with the adventure package. Both dealers were professional, and very easy to work with. I would buy again from either dealer.
I bought both on the last day of the month. They really do deal to get the sales on that months numbers.

Re: Want to Buy
DeMontrond is near the house, I live in The Woodlands and have tried to deal with them more than Ron Carter or McGinnis. Beck and Masten....they don't seem to have much to offer either, although I don't know for sure. I started looking in Feb for an 2007 H3 and thought I might be close to getting one. On March 30 a coworker friend of mine went to DeMontrond and they gave him a great deal...and a few hours later they wouldn't even extend a deal close to what he got. I had a folder going in their dealership with 4-5 different H3 deals. They just wouldn't budge much on what I wanted.
I wound up buying a 2007 Jeep Patriot in mid August....I did get a good deal but I do owe on the vehicle. I am not happy with it, it's too small and I have been driving Ford/Mercury Explorers for the last 10 years. Selling outright would seem to be the best thing to do. I am not familiar with how to roll the loan over on an H3 or what it would make my payments be...but I have talked to my loan officer and she said she would try to help me understand the "deals".
Ron Carter was very friendly, they let me demo an H3 for about 4-6 days (DeMontrond did too) and I decided based on the deal, that it was not good enough.
I have been to McGinnis once and that was Friday afternoon. They only have about 4 2007's H3 on their lot right now and none are what I am looking for.
DeMontrond just got several 07's Demos in....a lot in Black (like I want). I am going to have to deal with them, they have the best and biggest selection. They just don't haggle well with me and I do not haggle well myself. The cheapest MSRP on the one I want is stickered at $34,290 and I don't know at the moment how many DEMO miles it might have on it. I bet they will not come off that MSRP and go under the $30K range. Although, they did it for my buddy.
So...this AGGIE needs some help.
