Default Want to Buy

I have been trying to buy an H3 since Jan of 2007. I am looking for a good deal. I tried to use a GMID, but still could not get what I wanted for the price. I live north of Houston, Tx and there is one dealership close by..and I have not had much luck. At times they will really try and get me in one and at other times, they could care less.

I am not rolling in $, but I am single and without kids and a pretty decent salary, but I come from a "frugal" family and I really don't want to spend more than what the car is worth.

Ok..to the point. Can anyone relay how they went about getting "the best deal" on their H3. I bought a JEEP in August thinking I could be ok with how small it is, but after 3 months...NO. I know I will take a hit but they guy at the dealership said "are you ready for your payments to double...from your present 300 to 600 $ a month." Come'on....$600 a month...I refuse to pay that. There has to be some other way to get in one of these and I am not talking about a H3X...but moderately equipped. 2007 Demo's?? would be fine if not too many miles and over $30,000 ish

Simple...................

go to www.kbb.com

look up the dealer cost on the equiped H-3 you want

only go with factory options

no dealer options

find out what if any close out 07 deals there may be

deduct that from the dealer cost

deduct the delivery charge

dealer set up is a lie

go into the dealer on the last few days of the month

on a tuesday, wednesday or thursday during the 11 am to 3 pm time

and prove your a man !!!

If you have a basically new jeep that you are trying to trade in, you are screwed. The only way to get the best deal on an H3 is to separate the transactions (sell the jeep yourself), otherwise they'll do whatever they want to with the dollars on paper.

1) Sell the jeep
2) Use the GMID to get the H3 you want
3) watch the kids heads turn when you drive by

Good luck.

bigger down payment will get that month cost down. Sounds like you should be looking at slightly used.

If you were that frugal, you wouldn't be ditching the jeep so soon.

Humble Ag, do I know you? I am Aggie class of 96I live in The Woodlands and I guess you are in Humble? What Hummer dealership do you deal with? I assume you bought from McGinnis or Beck and Masten or maybe DeMontrond?

Selling my Jeep is the best bet. taking the $ and pay off the loan take what little I get and put to the H3.

Here's how I bought my last 3 trucks:

Go to the dealership. Ask to speak with the fleet Manager. Tell him what you want (color, extras etc. Be specific!) Tell him that you have no problem with him being in business to make a profit. Tell him to give you the best possible deal that he can and that you will be shopping other dealers. And, if his price turns out to be the lowest, you will return and not haggle for 1 extra nickel. If you get a lower price elseware, he will neither see nor hear from you again. This puts the squeeze and hassle on him and takes it off of you. Then just relax and watch the fireworks. Stick to your guns, don NOT answer any questions like "What are you looking to pay?" A couple of caveats: 1. I always pay cash for vehicles which is partly what makes this approach work. 2. If you cwan, set up pour own financing beforehand (credit union?) so if you don't like his APR, you have ytour own. 3. Don't just look at your monthly payments! Of course you can't exceed what you can afford monthly, but the APR and number of payments wil affect the total cost to the point where it can nearly double (in a worst casr scenario). Good luck and don't be afraid to tell anyone to Fukk off. It's you money!

Anyone familiar with Autotropolis.com ? It is similar to True Internet Price.

I checked thru this and it says a 2008 Hummer H3 with Luxury Pkg is MSRP at $27,065 and a True Internet Price of $25,630.69.

The 2007's H3 on the lots around here, the lowest equipped the same go for a window sticker of 34k at lowest and usualy around 36K.

Would a dealer just laugh at me if I brought this paperwork in? I got this from a link off Hummerguy.net website.

I don't have the "gonna pay cash for my vehicle" kind of bargaining power. But thanks for the input tower.

...those prices you pulled off of those sites sound ridiculously low, and I think if you'll show that to the dealer he'll probably quit taking you seriously altogether. Those prices sound more like dealer invoices - if that... I remember while ago I priced some H3's for myself and the lowest deal I could hope for was right around $30k+tax - that would've been barebone base 5-speed model, without any options or upgrades, and I would have to be persistent enough to convince the dealer to order/deliver it for me. Prices on your dealer's lot sound about right ($34k-$36k).

Just my opinion, I maybe be wrong off course.

Class of '85. I bought my first H3 at Demontrond. Good dealership, service guys are easy to work with. Paid MSRP because they were brand new and I wanted it. Went back to them to trade for the second one (long story but I wanted a sunroof) and they thought they had me since I bought my first one there. They didn't have quite the right truck or the right price. Beck & Masten had just gotten the franchise and had just what I wanted on the lot (adventure/sunroof), plus they were more interested in dealing. Haven't used their service yet, but I did go to a baseball game Hummer Happening and it was awesome.

Good luck, you'll be pleased with the H3 when you get it.

Try Ron Carter or McGinnis. I bought a 06 H3 base from Ron Carter, and traded it for a 07 H3 with the adventure package. Both dealers were professional, and very easy to work with. I would buy again from either dealer.

I bought both on the last day of the month. They really do deal to get the sales on that months numbers.

DeMontrond is near the house, I live in The Woodlands and have tried to deal with them more than Ron Carter or McGinnis. Beck and Masten....they don't seem to have much to offer either, although I don't know for sure. I started looking in Feb for an 2007 H3 and thought I might be close to getting one. On March 30 a coworker friend of mine went to DeMontrond and they gave him a great deal...and a few hours later they wouldn't even extend a deal close to what he got. I had a folder going in their dealership with 4-5 different H3 deals. They just wouldn't budge much on what I wanted.

I wound up buying a 2007 Jeep Patriot in mid August....I did get a good deal but I do owe on the vehicle. I am not happy with it, it's too small and I have been driving Ford/Mercury Explorers for the last 10 years. Selling outright would seem to be the best thing to do. I am not familiar with how to roll the loan over on an H3 or what it would make my payments be...but I have talked to my loan officer and she said she would try to help me understand the "deals".

Ron Carter was very friendly, they let me demo an H3 for about 4-6 days (DeMontrond did too) and I decided based on the deal, that it was not good enough.

I have been to McGinnis once and that was Friday afternoon. They only have about 4 2007's H3 on their lot right now and none are what I am looking for.

DeMontrond just got several 07's Demos in....a lot in Black (like I want). I am going to have to deal with them, they have the best and biggest selection. They just don't haggle well with me and I do not haggle well myself. The cheapest MSRP on the one I want is stickered at $34,290 and I don't know at the moment how many DEMO miles it might have on it. I bet they will not come off that MSRP and go under the $30K range. Although, they did it for my buddy.

So...this AGGIE needs some help.

Question Re: Want to Buy

A local dealer is offering $7007 off MSRP for H3 2007 Demo's. I don't know how many miles are on these cars or even if they are close to what I want. Does anyone have info on what dealers in your area are offering on Demo's or 2007 closeouts.

I am still trying to get a good price? Does anyone have a GMID code they might want to extend? How much would that save?

if you hAVE A 3 month old jeep you are not going to get a good price....minimum is a 8k or so hit.....this is not frugal.....all these other suggestions are just that...there are no secrets, no special days....go in and dont be a dick and you wil get a good deal....oh yeah, ask for the fleet manager...as long as you own a company he will help, otherwise...its all about math...you dont want to pay 600 a month....at 0 percent with out any other fees, that is 36k....find the right vehicle for the right term and stick with it....

4 month old Jeep Patriot ( not a 4 Wheel Drive CJ or whatever they are called now) that I put $5000 down with 6.1% over 60 months that still KBB and Edmunds out as a private sale around $20,000. Brand new sticker was $24,000.

Trying to get the most for my vehicle, get a low price on an H3, and bring the monthly note down to something that is sane. And what I consider insane is $450/month and up for and H3 that "could" get 11-12 MPG around town and possibly 20 mpg on the highway. Gas prices around here are around 2.77 to 3.00 for Reg Unleaded. I think the MPG for the vehicle itself could be better, but based on the engine and comparing to other vehicles in its class....it's better than those or many F-150's.

2007's...no kidding. Here's what the latest dealer is offering. 2007 H3 Black with Black Luxury Leather and Nav, sunroof...etc. you know the setup. Miles of 2400. Price with rebates are $32085. Price if you want 0% for 60 momths is $35585.

either way it's not much difference . These dealers are acting like this is their best price they can make at the end of the year, I don't think so.

Another dealer (DeMontrond if your a Houston local) prices out a 07 H3 Lux Pkg. Leather, sunroof,4 spd Transmission with automatic, trailer hitch plus wiring, 6 cd changer Monsoon system, no chrome handles or side mirrors, no running boards,Chrome(Fake chrome) grill guard-not a brush guard.(Realize the same color guard as the car is more expensive), no roof rack, HUMMER etched on the glass of the most rear side windows (a $495 cost) . 16" x 7.5" Cast Aluminum Wheels. P265/75R16 All Terrain Tires.

base price is $29405
Luxury = $3230
4 Trans = 1695
Roof = 950
Trailer Hitch + wiring = 390
Glass etched "Hummer" = 495
Total Options = 6265
Tot Vehicle + options = 35670
Destination charge = 590
TOTAL PRICE + $36,260

You can get 0% over 60 months if you go with the above price. They may rebate you about 3450 from the 36260 if you finance at the rate you can get.

All I can figure is that you could ask them to take away the 950 Sunroof cost, Trailer cost of 390, etched design of 495 and destination charge of 590....and this may be a stretch and they probably will not do that on a luxury package...you mine as well go get a base model.

this may be a silly question - but did you ask if they could custom order a base model for you? if you want rock bottom price, you need the base model, or maybe base+auto transmission, those are common. Maybe base model with few thousand miles on it?

All those prices seem quite right - you said '07 with 2400 miles at $32k and you feel its being too expensive - but is has tons of upgrades as lux package, nav system, roof ..that is a lots of $$$ in upgrades - do you think they'll give that away for free? That vehicle probably sold close to $40k when new.
Also, in the last post you said that you'll try to "take away" some options charges - well maybe some stuff that is easily removable they could dismantle but wonder how you want to remove the sunroof for instance
