Re: Nav Choice
I had the Z1 unit in my H3 with all the goodies attached.. ie. Blutooth, IPod, backup camera and steering remote.
I have to say I was quite impressed with the speed of the hard drive in the Z1 over the DVD of the AVIC-D1 (I had installed the first time) and the interface itself was very intuitive. I would say my only complaint is the IPod interface was a bit sparse but hopefully they have changed that over the past year.
My only other experience with in car nav is the GM Factory and one Kennwood unit. I found the Pioneer to be better quality.
If it was up to me i'd get the AVIC Z3 based on experience. Also look up the AVIC Z1 install link in the H3 forums. There's some good info in there.
Just me 2 cents worth...

Re: Nav Choice
Ok, I've decided on this one
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...AVICD3X&tp=144
I've called around houston and asked for installing prices, so far its around 1300-1800
Does anyone think this is a good deal, or am I getting ripped off?

Re: Nav Choice
it should me about 300 to install plus you need the unit for the door chims and a unit for the onstar another 200 for parts.

Re: Nav Choice
I just purchased the Avic Z2 with the Bluetooth, iPod, Sirius, Color B/U Cam, GM/Onstar/Chime, and steering wheel kits. All together about $2,100.
I'm getting it installed for $ 450 next week. With the Z2, you have the Nav on the HDD, so it is more efficient that running off the DVD. Plus, your DVD/CD drive is free to be used so you don't have to get a separate drive.
Not to mention, when you insert a CD, it will be ripped straight to the HDD!!
Pretty sweet. Also, there's a Bypass to allow FULL functionality while driving.
Check out: www.avic411.com and read up on them before you buy!
Good luck!!

Re: Nav Choice
I have the D3 and I love it! The ipod control function is awesome! I really enjoy playing movies from the Ipod. P.S. I paid $350 to have it installed.

This sounds pretty close to right on..... if you still have all the factory Bose stuff you will only need one interface which is approximately $100+shipping. plus Im sure the shop will have another few bucks in misc. supplies etc....

Look on crutchfield.com and enter all the info about year
and model and the prompt will tell you what gear you will
need to buy. They will include all the diagrams of the Hummer
with copies of pictues of the real dash board in the manual.
Plus their Tech support people are A#1 IMO
It might be just me but I would keep the extra $1300 +++ for
installing it.

Re: Nav Choice
X2
That's waaayyy over priced for an install.
See my previous post above, but I'm getting the Z2 installed, plus 6-7 additional modules, for $ 450!!
Also, I purchased almost all my stuff from Crutchfield. Yes they sent me install instructions but that ONLY included the removal of the factory radio in my 03 H2.
Granted, I did get the Z2 unit and camera from eTronics...
