You need to use the red caliper grease on the back of the calipers.

IF you have heat glazed the rotors and pads already you will be liveing with that squeeking for ever. new rotors and the propper GM spec pads and a good cleaning and lubeing of the calipers is the answer . every time you cut the rotors you make them thinner and more prone to over heating and warping . rotors will take 1 cutting and still be good at disapateing heat after that the secound cutting will work but they will be too thin to properly dissapate heat . you could get a couple of cans of brakekleen and some caliper grease and clean them and see what happens ,it cheap enough . and it may help if it's just a build up of brake dust .

HERE'S AN OLD THREAD!

I had new GM pads and rotors put on about 8-9,000 miles ago. They've squeaked since day 1. At first I thought...'Give it some time...they're just learning to play nice.' But it's been 8-9,000 miles...(sigh)...and still the same annoying squeak.

The only nuance that I've noticed with mine is that they only squeak at very low speeds...under 5-10 mph, like when creeping to a stop at a light. The squeak is ear piercing and only appears to occur on part of the rotation...sqeeeeeaaaaak...no squeak...squeeeeeaaak...no squeak...stop. I don't know if that really means anything or not.

I was in for an oil change and tire rotation last week and asked the tech to take a look. All they told me was, "the brakes and rotors look fine." LOL...I don't care how they 'look' I care how they 'sound.' They were really slammed that day so I figured I'd have them give it another look-see when I go in for my tranny flush next month.

I'm tempted to act on some of the feedback in this thread but thought I'd resurrect it first to get some other's input.

EDIT: I never had a single squeak that I remember with the original brakes and rotors... the ones that were on the truck when new.

I had a problem with very noisy brakes about a mon ago. Had new EBC yellow stuff pads on slotted EBC rotors. The squeaks were so bad that I completely ripped apart the whole front brakes and lubed everything.

I also removed the bracket and painted both it and the caliper.
When I put it all back to get her, also bled the system to flush all the old fluid out.


Honestly haven't heard a single squeak since then.
Granted, I know it was from the lube on the bolts and pads, but peace of mind knowing there is fresh fluid in it too.

My old man had an H3 long before I picked up my 2 and he complained of the same issues. I did the same thing, broke the calipers down and greased EVERYTHING. Also be sure to grease the back of the brake pads-most have metal shims attached and even those can cause noise. Grease everything and it will go away!

Use Brake Quiet glue on the back of the pads, not grease. The brake quiet is a rubber adhesive that keeps the pads from vibrating when you lightly press the brakes. It should solve the problem when you lightly touch the brakes when going slow.

To the guy who has 114000 miles on stock pads/rotors.....WOW.
