GM was the only company willing to put their vehicles in the movie, others (like VW) were too afraid to be associated with a 'war' movie.

GM also helped with the budget of the first movie, and they're doing the same in the second. Although, Audi will have the R8 in the sequel so other companies are wising up and figuring that it's good advertisement.
