Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
We just called onstar yesterday. You should still have your onstar card when you first signed up. There is a number on the back, I believe. You can call them and give your info and I think they will tow it. That's what you pay for. I just remember using for the H3. I limped to a spot where I had reception and made the call to onstar, and they came and towed my vehicle away to the dealership.

Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
If you could take the key out, it's not the battery. I'm not sure about all years of H2s, but when the battery is dead you can't take the key out on mine. Stopping suddenly then not cranking sounds definitely electrical - call Onstar have it taken to the dealer!

Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
What happens when you turn the key on? Does the ignition and accessory stuff power up like the radio and A/C or not?

Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
Take out your owners manual. You don't even need onstar if your service is expired. Your truck came with 5 years of Hummer roadside assistance. The numbers in the manual. They will tow you to the nearest dealership for free.

Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
I say Fuel pump went out or clogged up. Happens sometimes when it gets low like that. Pretty $$ to fix if you are out of warranty. Go buy one, and then look under the carpet in the back above the gas tank. If so, pop it off and get to work.

Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
Does the engine crank, if not check the crank fuse. Have you had an ignition switch replaced in the past, if you have sometimes the connector at the switch is broken and backs out. remove the plastic steering column cover(lower half) check the connector. While your there you can check for power on i think the pink wire with the key in the run position. Have someone attempt to crank the engine and see if the starter relay in the underhood fuse block clicks, if not your not getting power to the relay or the relay can be bad

Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
Thxs for all the Information guys! I was told it may be the egnition switch I will look at my options 1st because I live 58 miles from the nearest dealer.
If I turn the key over I get nothing but all powers is on and I think its not getting power from the egnition switch to the starter.........I was late on my payment my wife and I are Realtors and we were dry on closings for a while and now we think the creditors could have shut us down but we have 2 closing on monday I will pay the bill and after that I will determine then whats next.

Re: hummer shut off on wife onroad
You can pull the starter relay out and with the key on use a jumper wire to engage the starter across terminals 87 and 30 if i remember correctly, if it cranks the problem is somewhere between the ign switch and the underhood fuse block

OK I will try the Jumper wire if this does not work! I guess I have to keep checking for problems.
