But what if it was in need of lube before you did it? It would still be in need of lube, no?

I say try the easy shiet first.

I have had a bunch of clunking in the front and rear end. The dealer has looked at it several times. They said it was the skid plate twisting so they put plastic washers between the skid plate and the body....still popped.

Finally the tec was on a test drive with me and I asked him. He told me about the body bushings and told me to put a plastic isolator between the body and the mount. There are two parts to the mount an upper bushing and a lower bushing. I removed all of the lowers....they all fell apart. They are rubber bushings molded to a metal plate, they were rusted out and not one peace anymore. I replaced all of the lower bushings 12.50 ea X10. The body is now super tight and no popping.....

I did put my rear tire carrier back on and I do have a little popping from it...but I managed to engineer it, now all is quiet.

The uppers are a pain to get out. I did take out the very back two to look at them.

This worked for me thought I would share.

hi on 2008 h2 the crossmember mount for the front diff housing. Their is a big steel washer between the front diff. and the rubber mount, lube the washer on both sides with silcone grease. The clunking i had was when i was accelerating from a stop light. It took me a 1/2 hour to find it because it was checking it by myself. I hope this explains it better.

Ok I see what you are saying. Yeah I will pull that bushing that the diff sits on an lub it. I wonder if making washers from an antifreeze bottle would work to fix that bushing as well??? I will have to see.

I have found that a fix is cutting a plactic bottle the same size as the mylar washers pictured above and using them in the same fashion works for this as well. So I think I am going to give that a try before I buy all new body mounts. Does anyone know the torque specs????

Thanks again for all the good replies guys.

hi there is another TSB, the 4 bolts bolts that mount the front crossmember gm has added big hardend washers to the front and rear of the 4 bolts to stop clunking and popping noises from the front end. I did not need to do this to my truck
