Re: Check this out... best gas mileage I've seen yet...
Hi Mark, you forgot to add the cost of a new set of back tires to the cost of the conv.

Yeah, I'm afraid that will cost more than the conversion...
Once the newness wears off, I'll calm down but for now... it's fun.

Aint that the truth
Im interested in seeing the results with the Edge tuner. I'm running a Hypertech max now but really only saw minimal returns with power and milage, granted you can adjust for gears and tire size but it retails for almost the same price as the edge ($400 ish vs $5something?) without the nice display.

Apparently the diesel tuners are more...
The PPE was over 800 bucks, the Diablo was almost 600 bucks and the Edge tuner was 850....
I was told by an Edge rep that it should produce the same results except since I got the race version, it will produce even more HP/TQ (180/385) I think.

Re: Check this out... best gas mileage I've seen yet...
Yesterday I drove to ride the 4 wheelers. My trailer weighs almost 2K pounds, my UTV weighs 1300, another UTV (smaller one and another atv) Roughly a little over 4000 pounds.
Point is, I changed the programmer to "towing" and was running 85 to 90 the entire way. The truck never once left overdrive going up hills.
Unfortunately at those speeds with that load and going up hills, I only averaged 11 mpg.

Re: Check this out... best gas mileage I've seen yet...
Mark, what fun that big diesel must be! It's too bad that Hummer didn't stay around long enough for AMG to offer a diesel H2 - I think it would have been a big seller. A good friend has one of the new Chevy HDs with the diesel and allison, he tows a lot of horses in trailers and absolutely loves the diesel. Before he had a Ford HDF250 and averaged 6 mpg on his long tows, now he averages 13 with the same trailer and load. He also went through 2 transmissions on his Ford F250 because of all the shifting it kept doing in the hilly areas going back and forth from Missouri to Lexington, KY.
