I only run chevron or shell. Maybe it's the normal tap sound at idle and I'm just getting paranoid! Don't you have a normal tap noise at idle?

Okay question since you guys know about all this and I dont.... 03 H2 with 40" tires.... no gears and no CAI.... What would you guys recommend for a programmer?
I will be adding a CAI hopefully soon and MAYBE I will do gears after the programmer... but I hate the way it jumps around searching for a lower gear all the time and its pretty laggy....

Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

DO THE GEARS. Programmers won't help enough as they usually don't program past a 38 inch tire. Changing to 4.88's was one of the best mods I did for my truck.

I'm thinking of doing the same with mine, not liking the constant searching for a lower gear..I have an '08 with 35's, exhaust, and a CAI..any suggestions on brand and why?

Much appreciated!

Just to update this a bit. I did a programmer first, and it didn't do much for the up-sized tires. New gears made it a whole new truck. I feel that the programmer is a nice compliment to the gears.

I just put the Evolution CTS Gas from Edge Products in My H2 currently running it in the economy mode and it lets me change the tire size reset error codes. so far Im happy with it, do notice the shifting is much better in the Hummer after installing it and pick up is great. I drive on the auto bahns of Germany, so I needed something to help with faster shifting and this seems to be working.

i hear zero noise at idle.

40" tires needs gears at least 4.88
just make sure that your programmer can adjust for your new gear size.
my hypertech can only handle up to 4.56. i was think of adding gears at 4.88 so i would need to buy a different programmer.

Doing some research, I found that superchips gives you a 91 tune or an 87 tune! Superchips says the 91 tune gives a 34 horse gain and the 87 is 24 horses! Being in las vegas, I like that they offer the 91 octane tune!

A gear change is a must when you lift and change tire size! When I lifted my avelanche, I didn't do a gear change right away. I just put the power programmer on and really didn't get much out! But when I did the gear change, it was a world of difference!
