Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
I also heard that and thought about asking but didn't know for sure..So say I went with the 15.50's, I would need to upgrade several steering parts as well?

Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
You should upgrade those parts even if your truck is basically stock. Stock tie rods are known for going bad, and there are some excellent alternatives. And some of the steering braces are highly recommended, as well. Not only will they last longer, but they'll help hold alignments. Considering some of these parts are cheaper than an alignment, it's a no-brainer.

Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
simply put.. these gm trucks have weak steering componets... if you do any changes at al to bigger wheels and tires most professionals would reccomend upgrading these parts anyways. so with that being saids thats why i went with the 40x15.5x20. its a whole new look over the 38x13x20 in my opinion

Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
I've been in the same boat as some of you guys in regards to tire size. The reasons I stuck with 38's were the advice I got from my shop, carrying a spare, and being able to match up gears, programmers, etc. With 4.88 gearing, a programmer, and other mods, I'm able to cruise all day long at 75mph, and don't find my truck constantly downshifting at the slightest hill. In fact, at 70mph on a hill, I can easily still accelerate up to 75mph or greater. Prior to the gears, my truck would downshift, and I'm afraid going with 40's would cause this again, even with the 4.88's.
Another benefit I've found by staying with 38's is that no programmers, custom tunes maybe, go up to 40" tire sizes. They top out at 38's. With the gears and programmer, my speedo is corrected. I feel it keeps the truck more drivable. But, please keep in mind, I'm saying this without having driven an H2 with 40's.
I will say, however, that all the pictures with 40" tires is really tempting me. They DO look awesome! Maybe after I get a third car...

Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
I will say charles your truck would look absolutely insane with 40s! You definitely have the room for it..I was afraid I may not clear 40s if I went with a standard 6" lift. I was thinking about a 4" rancho plus my keys, giving me a huge lift while paying for a 4" lift. Course no lift for a hummer is cheap, they're ALL bad expensive. I could see where the truck would be more drivable with 38's versus 40s. I mean I could do 37s but I could clear 37's right now with just a truxxx lift. The 15.50s look really good in pictures, but I've never actually seen them in person. I've seen several 37X13.50 and those are big tires! I can't imagine the 15.50's! But all of this means nothing if I don't lift the truck, but it's been something I've wanted to do since I've had it. Do either of you guys have trouble driving it around town? Meaning is it too large to drive comfortably around town?

Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
I just leaned how to post and thins to this site so I'm not sure how to post up photos yet or I'd show you mine with 40"s. I'll have to research and learn how to... I understand but being that I just added 40"s to mine I hadn't changed my gearing out yet... I'm still on stock gears believe it or not and I reslly don't think it's to bad. I pull my lawn trailer "16ft" 80% of the time to! It does downshift on hills and is annoying on the highway but I can still cruise 70mph. I wouldn't wanna race a vette or Anything but it I'd tolerable till I get time to swap in new ones... I do not wheel in my truck, with that being said my front end shop just inspected my whole front end... Nothing was worn out an thu advised me to keep running sll my stock parts and not upgrading until they show signs of wear....

Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
If you upload your pictures to photobucket..you can click the img code on the website and paste it in the posting part of this site and your pictures will come up..it took me awhile to do it myself. But I'd love to see your ride. Are you running a flat six inch lift or is it larger? And I'm not hard on my truck either. Seldomly offroad and don't harp on it when I drive.

Re: 13.50's or 15.50's?
Ok I'll truant c but I'm doing this from my phone so I sill have to wait till tomorrow. As for the lift its a 6" but actually raised it almost 8". I was reluctant to put the 40"s on it cause so many people on here say u have to regear with those and even 38". I was scared cause I even pull a trailer that prob weighs 4000 lbs. Like I Sao it's not a race truck but I do just fine on stock gears with my 40"s so don't let thy determine wether u get them or not. 40"s look way better in my opinion... With the 12" wheel and my big offset with the 15.5 wide tire it makes this thing very very wide. I love the look. The width of tires just matches the width of the body. Some People would hate this but my tires stick out prob 3-4" outside of body. Very aggressive look.

Yeah, you can tell you live in FL....lol.
On both of my H2?s, I ran 38?s with 4.56 gears AND a supercharger. The gutless POS wouldn?t maintain 70 mph with the cruise control on without kicking in and out of overdrive.... thus, the reason why I pitched that piece of crap 6.0
At the slightest incline, it would drop a gear down if the cruise control was on.

Haha. How can you tell I live in FL?
And I'm still debating 40's. I talked to my shop, and they can have someone at Superchips send me a custom tune for my programmer that would handle 40's, thus keeping my speedo correct, and hopefully my powerband. We'll see.

Cause if you're using cruise control and having no power issues, you've got to be on flat pavement....
Speaking of Florida, we left my mom's house at 1pm today to come back to NC. It's now 11:48 pm and we JUST got on I-26.
Holy crap, traffic was a cluster fudge.
