Obviously you wouldn't use both at the exact same time, but that wasn't my point. My point was that warning lights and chimes would go off randomly, I couldn't handle that. Hopefully your kit has this issue resolved, let us know how it turns out.

Which of those kits did you get for your truck?

Never found one with good reviews so I got a FM modulator (puke) and now I have an aftermarket stereo.

You never found one with good reviews so you bought something with horrible reviews? Lol fm modulators are probably one of the worst things ever made for music. So you never personally experienced any lights on the dash or anything like you said, with the xm adapter ?

Last thing I want to do is get used to the lights and chimes going off so when something really is wrong with my truck I don't notice. I didn't expect high quality with the fm modulator. It was a simple and cheap fix that did not make my dash lights and chimes go crazy and allowed me to listen to my iPod. I mostly only used it for books and podcasts on long trips instead of music. I never experienced the chimes and lights, just read about them on here and decided against it. Good luck, let us know how it works out.

A person i work with has an 05 with nav and he didn't want to put an aftermarket headunit in. He used a ipod adapter and last i knew really likes it. I'll ask him which one he is using next time i see him but I'm sure someone will chime in before long. I had a blose 6 cd in mine and couldn't wait to change it. Installed a Kenwood w/nav and bluetooth and have been very happy with it.

When I still had the factory NAV I used the Peripheral iPod interface (PXDPGMT)...now discontinued.

I never had any real problem with it...no random light flashes or door chimes; it just worked as advertised. Peripheral changed their name to iSimple; they've got some new interfaces, maybe compare them against the ones you've already found.

ive thought about swapping out the factory nav, but theres really no reason for me to. the nav works fine, the only thing i wanted was an ipod hookup. have heard any bad personal experiences with these kits. ill have to talk to a few manufacturers and see what they say about them.
