Re: Does anyone buy used ring and pinions?
I drove to Alabama this weekend from NC (roughly 500 miles) For "the most part", I had the cruise control set of 78-80 pulling an open car trailer with 4 people in the Hummer.
On the way back, I also had a 1200lb. UTV on the trailer.
I only averaged 12mpg running at those speeds. I'm also using the second to top tune (which actually gives me a couple of miles per gallon better results)
With the 37's (which actually measure 35 or 36" tall) with the top tune and no trailer, I was getting 17-18 with the cruise set on 82-84.
Lower tune, bigger tires and trailer and lower speed gave me less mpg.

Re: Does anyone buy used ring and pinions?
if you want to run the numbers yourself, compare different options...this has pretty much everything you would ever need-

FYI, alot of gears are physically machined by the same company. Some of the cheaper gear brands are loud just because they are not as refined or precision cut as they could be.

No ****, I looked at that when I was deciding what ring and pinion to put in my Jeep and finally gave up. I didn?t need to know all that. I found a much simpler chart and used that...lol.
I?m too old to think that hard.

Manual or Auto with lockup torque converter
2) High Range - 1
Low - 2.64
3) None
4) 4.10
Put your current **** in the left column and what ever your thinking about changing to on the right. There isn't any possibly thing you can't calculate or figure out from that page.
