Your right its a skid plate and made for beating on. I live in Florida and don't have any rocks to scrape it up with. Trail driving in the sand. So if its not going to get scraped up to sh*t so why not keep it looking nice. Now if I still lived in MI I wouldn't bother doing anything to it. I couldn't keep anything clean and the rock chips living on a dirt road. I have had my truck 9 years now and people still say it looks like it came off the showroom floor. It has never been washed or waxed by anything or one but me. Even my dirt toys get broken down and detailed out after a dirty ride. Still look new. This pic also shows proof for the saying "If the hammer doesn't work get a bigger hammer". It worked!
