Sider hood latches--can I do without for a few days?

hey can i ask when you took the latches off to be powder coated, how did you separate the straps from the actual metal ? (I bought some oversized pirate billet ones) but can't remove the rubber strap. Im wondering if i use a hammer and knock the pins out, will i be able to get them back in when i reassemble with the new black parts?

Man..... that was A LONG time ago. I honestly can't recall. I'm sorry. If it ever quits blowing ice cold wind here I can take a quick peak and see if that jogs my memory!

Hey i appreciate the response. I feel bad keep bringing up old threads, but i've not been able to quite get the answers am looking for, and i'm desperate to de-chrome this beast!
