The HID kit comes prewired with three bare ends. There is a ground wire, a low beam 12V and a high beam 12V. On low beam, the power energizes the ballast. When you hit high beam, the 12V energizes a selonoid that opens a flap in the projector that lets out all the light. There is a diode between the hi and low beam that allows 12V to pass from the hi to low beam light but not from the low to high beam light. What I did on my 03 was took a stock bulb and ripped off the glass part exposing the three leads. I soldered the three wires from the HID assembly and filled the socket with hot glue for sealing and insulation. Now all I have to do is plug the factory plug into the old bulb socket and that is it. The reason I did the swap at the dealer is becasue I wanted to retain my modified light buckets. There is a sligh trimming of the fiberglass that needs done but that was it.

Klaus,
Did you get any of the PM I sent you about the NAV install? I have all my parts on order. I might order a CD changer cable just to get the correct end when (if) I need to add the VSS wire. The local Audio shop told me the conversion won't work. I'll be sure to stop by after it is hooked up
