im about to install my flip out monitor from my old truck.id much rather prefer to put a full monitor where the radio is and a head unit where onstar is. i see a few of you have done this, has anyone done this themself ? im trying to figure what size monitor would fit best there?
id rather not see the monitor bezel, just have the dash piece over the screen, so as much of the screen as possible is visible.

akakustom - sweet install!!!

That's what I've been thinking of doing to my new SUT. Did you fabricate the consoles? If so, great job. Also, did you incorporate the steering wheel buttons to control your devices? What unit is under the display? Any suggestions or guidance on how you did this install would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Jim

to answer H2FINALLY IT WAS A ONE OFF PIECE THAT WAS PART OF A CUSTOM A/V JOB. TO ANSWER JIMAGES, I MADE THE SHROUD THAT HOUSES THE CLIMATE CONTROL AND CUT THE OVERHEAD USING A JIG FOR THE ONSTAR. THE RADIO IS AN ALPINE 7996 AM/FM DVD, AND FOR THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS I USED A PAC SWIX, BUT I'VE HEARD THAT SOUNDGATE HAS AN INTERFACE ALSO. I COULD BUILD ONE FOR ANYBODY THAT'S INTERESTED JUST HOLLER

akakustom - My compliments on your craftsmanship. Phenomenal job!!!

I wasn't real sure but do you have a computer controlling the screen or are you just using the output from the Alpine?

I have been researching and learning about the fabrication of the consoles but I may be interested in your offer to build one for me. Shoot me an email with your price - Jimages1@mchsi.com

Yes, Soundgate does offer an alternative to the PAC's

akakustom - it looks like you have something here! Have you had a chance to come up with pricing for the console(s)? Thanks

I think if someone bundles the whole thing with the screen would do much better for us and for his business.

Wow!

Dear akakustom,

the shroud you have on the overhead console looks like it would fit my potted switch panel (lights, sirens, etc.) perfectly. Please let me know cost and any specs you have at:

theTower@SoCalNSP.org

Hell, I might go for the whole conversion. Let me know costs please.
