I am a Senior in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech and am conducting a survey for a new breed of Hummer that GM is currently considering. This new Hummer will be larger than an ATV, but small then a Jeep. Please answer the following questions below, it would help GM and our design team greatly. Thanks
1.What do you like and dislike about your current Hummer?
2.What types of things could you do with a cheaper more capable Hummer?
3. How much would you pay *this new Hummer will cost around 10,000-25,000.
4. Do you use your Hummer to the fullest capabilities, if so how often?
5. What would you expect to see from this Hummer/ATV new breed coming?
Thank you for your time, we really appreciate it.

First Hummer shoes, then Hummer cologne, now Hummer bread? Is it low-carb?
Wow, I know for a fact that I would have got my ass chewed by my ME teachers back in school if I spelled "breed" (or any other basic word) wrong. I agree with Beast, scary if this is an example of the current grads.
I for one would like to see a large back seat, a condom dispenser, electrochromic windows, and a dim red interior light.

Please stop the madness. The only thing you engineer is how to fit a bigger gerbil tube up your monstrous rectum.

That is the price range that GM is giving us. Hoping that you guys could narrow this range down for us. They basically just want us to come up with some ideas for a cheaper, more fuel efficient hummer type vehicle. So it's just in the workings, but we know that it's going to be AWD, 2 passenger (side by side), highway capable, between the size of an ATV and jeep, kind of like a Suzuki samurai on steroids, and fuel efficient. I was just hoping some of you guys could give us some more ideas of what this vehicle should have.

I think you should understand that this is a rough crowd in here, and you are treading on unfamiliar territory. Maybe you should contact GM and have them do a survey. They seem to be pretty good at doing surveys.

Some more info would be of help:
Is it an open-air vehicle or closed?
Single operator or can it carry passengers?
If so, in what config? (F&R, side-by-side?)
Are you trying to reinvent one of these?:

I believe that we are going to use independent on all four corners. I know that solid axles are better for off roading, but they are heavy. We want it to be light weight and fuel efficient, because the current hummers are gas guzzlers, and aren't exactly "green" vehicles. We haven't decided on a power plant, but diesel may be too heavy. Possibly a gasoline hybrid will be used. I'm on the suspension team, but any input on the whole vehicle will help tremendously. Our group did come up with a number in a meeting at GM in terms of price ($12,000), but we really have no data to support that.

Needs to have a mid-engine design. The EX's steering linkage is exposed, not behind some under carriage protection.
A continuously variable transmission, preferably gear driven, not belt.

sorry it's just frustrating. Didn't mean to take any of your guys time or make it a big deal. I understand... I'm a regular on the Audi forum and see people messed with all that time. I didn't mean to say the H2 was a soccer mom car, it's capabilities are almost that of the H1, and it is a very capable vehicle. But it would really be big help to us if you just gave like two or three things you would want in this bull**** senior design project. I am not saying that our concept will be the next hummer or anything. BYU is building a full-scale model, and we are just doing the model on the computer.

'Bread' - 'Breed' WTF it does look like a loaf of bread I guess.
Your new design should primarily keep cadence with the personality of the current H1 and H2 owner:
1. Generally self centered
2. Opinionated
3. Mistaken to be rude (at times)
4. Eats red meat
5. Voted for the right President
6. And does not think the word "gay" is ambiguous

I think GM's been beat out - what you're looking for is commonly known as the Honda Element.

Wow you guys are almost as bad as the Audi guys. By the way, sorry I can't spell, didn't really pay attention to it. But we just visited GM, saw the new hummers coming out in the next couple years, and they want us to come up with a concept similar to the Polaris 4x4, like one of you mentioned. Your guys input would really help out. Thanks again...

Just curious on where you saw the “new” hummers at GM and who your contacts are before I call BS on ya. If you are on the level I'll know, (or find out) and say so, then you might get some more cooperation.

I know that this is going to sound "soccor momish" but how about incorporating some side airbags. Not a big shifter and make the transmission a manual transmission. AND please do not use a 4 cylinder, stick with a inline 6.

Here's a thought, build an on-road off road motorcycle similar to a BMW GS. They figured it out.
