Greenhummer,
Here's the skinny as I know it. Depending on the model of alarm you have, there should be a 5 wire harness on your alarm that sends one wire to the starter, two to the ignition switch and then a orange and brown wire make up the balance of the group. The orange and brown wire should be sending 12 volts to whatever they plug into or the sensor thinks the error is present. My guy says he can send a diagram if you need it. It is important to know here if you installed it or a "pro" and what model you have. Now, I am still vague on this 5 wire harness deal because I also long eplaination of how the alarm control box sends all its commands to one purple that attaches to the OBD port. He calls it a something bus wire or bus something wire. It's all computerized as you know.
On a related subject, my dealer has ordered a new head unit for my SUV saying some hardware has gone out in it. I think the dealer going to blame the alarm guy for the problem but also says that this is the first head unit that they have had to order.
I have quit using the Autopage system as it needs to be reprogrammed due to unplugging it while it was at the dealer and it has forgotten it's settings. It now runs the siren for 5 seconds before the remote start. It's great fun.
